I can't stand the Braves but Murphy deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. He was a good clutch hitter on some crummy Atlanta teams. he played the game the way it was meant to be played. If Ryne Sandberg is in, Murphy should be too.

i'd want to work out Murf in the corridor, yet from his pollreturns as much as now, that's going to no longer ensue. He replaced right into a darn solid participant with some large seasons. i think of he's top relating to the minimum point of corridor high quality, and the electorate to this point are agreeing with me, yet from the different area of the velvet rope. He replaced into first on the pollin 1999 (which now seems so previously), so he's been in 9 elections and has in basic terms six left with the BBWAA electorate. It ain't lookin' too solid; he's been pulling around 12%. (The corridor those days remodeled its website, and person candidate consequences seem to be long previous, regrettably. stupid corridor.) And the two components which persons would want to work out working in his want, of course are no longer: a million. the theory that previous due-90s/early-00s "roidball" would "make the 80s men seem greater useful" -- nicely, advantageous theory, yet no longer yet manifesting in genuine vote casting. Rice and Dawson have not yet been granted the bronze key the two, and Murf is a lot at the back of them in vote casting. 2. the clause in pollregulations to think approximately a participant's character. that's the final, throw-in handbook, which on no account quite components in, and Murphy's candidacy makes this glaring, because of the fact if Dale Murphy can't earnings any bonus factors for being baseball's all-time solid guy, no you may. And, to this point, he has no longer won. Murf -- very solid participant, marginally corridor worth, yet doomed as a real candidate. I refuse to take a position what the Veterans Committee would do till it elects a minimum of one person on which to base even the roughest of VC standards.

I hope not, because he would be a good "yardstick" player for baseball. Kind of like that thing at the amusement park that says, "You must be this tall to go on this ride." In this case, it would be, "You must be better than this player to get into the HOF."
Nothing personal against Murph, I just don't see him as a HOFer. He didn't even hit 400 HRs. . . .

Very good question and he should make it. He was the team for the longest time.
I would like to see him voted into the Hall of Fame.
Players should also have a voice on selctions, not just the sports reporters.

I hope he does. he played on some bad Braves teams yet still managed to hit nearly 400 and win two MVP awards. Throw in his stellar defence and awesome personality and he should have been in by now.

No. His career took a sharp downturn during his last few seasons, and knee problems shut it down altogether. Not quite enough for the Hall.

Whether he deserves it or not, he'll never get enough votes and the election committee won't take him.
