There is no time limit for reporting a rape case, while other sexual offences have a 20-year time limit. However, if you do not report quite soon after the rape happened then physical evidence may be lost and any witnesses may be difficult to find, which will make successful prosecution more difficult.

It is not too late. However, much of the evidence that could have been used against him is now gone forever. Unless she actually knows the guy, this will make it hard (not impossible) to catch him. But she definitely needs to report it ASAP. Even if the police have no leads, they may catch him later in another rape and be able to tie him to this one.

Even if the statute of limitations for prosecuting the rapist had expired, she can always report the rape. 4 days ins nowhere near the statute of limitations for anything anywhere. Any physical evidence has likely been destroyed after 4 days, but she should still report the crime. The DA will determine if they can prosecute.

It's NOT too late. If she's telling the truth and she was raped, she needs to report it. Much of the evidence is gone unless she still hasn't washed the clothing she was wearing....but if he really did rape her...she needs to tell the police and hopefully stop him from harming any other girls.

It is never too late to turn the scum in but the fact that she has bathed will mean there is no evidence left. It is a shame that she didn't report it right away but since she didn't, she can still report it.

it's never too late. tell your friend to report it right away. the longer you wait, the less proof there is and may make the process longer but it's worth reporting. no one should allow a rapist on to roam free on the streets. you never know who he'll attack next. if you know the guy and can describe him and everything he was wearing, even better for you. TURN THE JERK IN!

She can still file with the police, but without any evidence it would be hard to convict. I would assume she has since showered and washed the clothes she was wearing, so it's possible they couldn't do anything about it, but filing a report wouldn't be a bad idea. Good luck to her.

Although you should report a rape immediately and the rape kit would be helpful in proving the assault actually happened, it is not too late to report it. If she is a minor, please inform an adult that can help immediately. She needs help!
