May be you didn't take care of your pc for a long time. Or may be it is infected. Anyway, do the following steps with patience and see the difference:

1. Run Disk clean-up. Then delete unused files. (start>program>accessories>sys... tools> disk clean-up)
2. Check for disk errors. (right click on a disk-drive>properties>tools >error checking, then restart)
3. Run disk defragmenter, no matter what it says.
4. Delete cookies. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
5. Delete cache or temporary files. (you can do it from your browser options) or, click on 'start", 'run', type 'temp' then click ok. Whatever shows up, just delete.
6. Delete all history files and search history. (you can do it from your browser options, or, CTRL + H, then delete)
7. Empty recycle bin.
8. Delete unused icons & short-cuts from anywhere including desktop.
9. Uninstall any software or game that you use only once or twice in a week.
10. Delete temporary internet files. (you can do it from your browser options: tools>internet options)
11. Delete all recent files. (click on start, click run, then type "recent", delete all the files which show up)
12. Run a full virus scan. If any threat found, eliminate that completely.
13. Run a software which can remove any spyware or adware.
Like: Ad Aware, Windows defender etc.

It really depends on what system you have how much memory it's got and what operating system your using at the time. eg. if you had a slow 32bit pc and 128meg ram and your trying to run win xp your in for a hard time. win xp requires no less than 512mb to run smoothly anything over that is a bonus. on the other hand if it's a fairly fast sytem it could be a dodgy programme you installed try taking off the last thing you installed. hope this helps

its freezing because it got a cold. hehe.. just kidding, usually your computer may have one or combination of several problems like,

1. memory problem, not enough
2. your display card or adapter is defective
3. your hardware driver is not installed correctly.
4. you may have a maliscious virus ( although they mostly slows down computer performance)

Another joke is you have a PEBCAC problem. Problem encountered between chair and computer.

Peace man just a joke.

Possible virus? Do you run any anti virus programmes? you can purchase loads of cleaners for your computer and run these when you download music files etc it's possibly why it keeps freezing or you may have too much on your computer

Assuming that you have had good housekeeping all along (virus checker that's up-to-date, etc.), I would suggest your check the cooling fans, esp. the CPU fan. They do pack up and then your CPU overheats and 'freezes' (yes, heat leads to freezing!).

Could be a huge # of things. Could be a virus, bad ram, OS issues, overheating (although this normally causes shut down). So a little more info would be helpful. -GeekSquad Agent Jerf-
