I'm looking at a computer with this processor on it
Intel® Core™2 Duo Processor E4300 (1.8GHz, 800 FSB).
I don't know much about the Intel Core 2Duo line, so i was wondering if this is fast or not. How does this compare with the fastest that is out right now?

It is a true Allendale that is not as fast the Conroes. BUT it is CHEAP and is a fantastic OVERCLOCKER. Once overclocked, it is really FAST. Look at what my idol did:

It can do 15.794 seconds on Super Pi 1M.

C2D processors are the fastest out right now. There are tons of programs that are able to utilize both cores. You could purchase the cheapest of those and it would easily beat a 3.0ghz uniprocessor. In about 2 years Intel is going to go away from the FSB (front side bus) and this will yield an entirely new, faster processor. Don't spend so much now and save up for later, you'll want it.

Brandon

Processor speed is over-rated. Don't worry about getting top of the line processor, you will see much more improvement in computing with an adequte memory.

Very fast. I'm using it right now. I've tried to slow it down by running premiere pro, after effects, tons of firefox windows, and playing two 1080p movies ALL at the same time, but it still doesn't budge! Oh, and I'm running vista on it and aero works perfectly!
