the volcano in Yellowstone hasn't erupted for over 64000 years. although it is long overdue according to its history i don't believe it will eruptt any time soon. the lava chamber under the park, although showing signs of activity, is not "full" enough to erup. when it does, however, the ash that it will release will be pushed east by the wind and there well be enough of it to ground planes in new york and decimate anything within about a 2 state radios.

It is a super volcano and if it erupted it could cause a lot of damage, but it probably will not erupt in our life time, also we have a yellow stone observatory that watches the changes in the caldera. It last erupted 70,000 years ago, so I think that we have a while until it does again. ***

California would be about as safe as you could be in the northern hemisphere. Remember the jet stream goes East.
If it happens, it happens. There's really no reason to worry. If you can't deal with it, move to New Zealand.

I am not scared because I expect to die if it erupts and there is nothing I can do about it. It could though.

Please relax.
There are some things it simply isn't worth worrying about. This is one of them. A life ending asteroid strike is another.
Think of some more things you have absolutely no control over and don't worry about them either. Live your life, jumping at every shadow is something but it sure isn't living.
