One possible solution is 12. A 12*12 square would be 144. The two triangles formed if you cut it in half would both be 72.

The formula for area of a triangle is:
area=1/2 xbase xheight

in order to figure your problem given only one number..Area=72 it cannot be done.

it is 12 on both bcuz:
area of triangle =1/2(base*height)
and if you work back wards 72 *2=144 and 12*12=144 so that could eb the answer
