I volunteer my time as a party planner/decorator for the dances at my local American Legion. I'm in the process of making 20 ( nearly 3' tall) palm tree centerpieces for their LUAU DANCE in June.

1. I volunteer as a Chaplain for my local Police Department.
2. I volunteer as an on call Chaplain a couple days a month at a local hospital.
3. I drive a shuttle van carrying Veterans to the VA Medical Clinic two or three days a week.
4. I am Church Coordinator for my church.
5. I lift a little of the burden of visitation off the shoulders of my Senior Pastor by making from 5 to 20 visits a month to church members who are ill at home or in hospital.
There are many things that seniors can do to help others if they will look around for them. One example... Our church is in need of someone who will man the phone and call shut-ins and regular attendees who have missed a couple services in a row to make sure they are OK.

I do the things I always wanted to do when I was younger but did not have time for. i.e. take piano and violin lessons. I volunteer with the youth group at my church because I love being around young people- especially teens. I travel, work a pat-time job, and have fun. And I am working on a novel and writing poetry.

I help take care of the child we adopted when I was in my late fifties.
I read a lot of books and argue with the talking heads on TV.
I worry about my wife, who worries about me.
I collect old radio programs in case my eyes give up completely.
I grumble at my ankles and knees after they grumble at me all the way down the stairs.
I think about how love is so much more than the bed.

I dance, play and sing with grand children. Grand children are for enjoying. Disciplining them is the responsibility of their parents.

I also do whatever I want to do. I have a great hobby that is writing. So I enjoy nature and write to my heart content.

Just about everything I did as a teen. The only difference is that I'm not as much in a hurry as I used to be.
