I 'know' FTP. What are you trying to do? I have a web site and yes that's usually what it's used for. You sound like you need help.

File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is a protocol used to let one computer transfer a file to another computer using certain rules and standards, these rules and standards are the same from one platform to another so it makes it easy for a Windows system to transfer a file to a Unix system and so forth. There are server services which support FTP, these can be run on a server box, a workstation, or a stand alone system connected to a network (home system via the internet). Actually this is the first time in years where I do not have a web site; I work with one enough at work. I have written FTP clients for windows systems and know a bit about the process. If I can assist you I will be happy to do so.
