You can get a prescription for hyocyamine from your doctor. It's a sub-lingual (under the tongue) tablet that stops the symptoms very quickly. It's done wonders for me. It's cheap, too.

I've also found that eating yogurt helps, but if you don't like it, try drinking acidophilus milk. I have trouble with some dairy products, but it's due to the fat content rather than lactose. Taking Lactaid before eating ice cream helps, too.

It sounds like something is going on in there! I have lactose intolerance and it presented itself by bloating and gas all the time, so I don't know if its' that or not. Something that helped me and supposedly helps other intestinal problems is acidophilus. It's the live culture that can be found in yogurt. If you don't like yogurt, try a capsule form. That's what I took, I found it much more convenient! You should be able to find it @ your local health food store. I felt a major difference taking while taking it in a matter of days! Tip for ya. Don't buy the least expensive brand. Look for a brand that is refridgerated or sealed in a light resistant brown glass bottle. Since they are live bacterias, they can be inactivated if they are not stored or handled properly. Good luck!

What would be useful is for you to see a good gastro-enterologist. There is any easy and definitie test they can do for lactose intolerance. Your symptoms might just be the result of pigging out, or something more serious....better get checked out.

I had IBS. It is completely curable with diet. Eliminate ALL starch and sugar from your diet. This includes milk sugar, and NO grains of any kind, including corn and soy!
