We hide it for a reason: so we can share... with ourselves!!!!
As for locations of where we hide things, it all depends. I clearly recall that when I was Technical Training at Keesler Air Force Base, they had a no alcohol policy in the dorms. Of course we snuck it in, drank it, and discarded the "evidence". We all found creative ways of "stashing" our stash--even in the water tank of the toilets!!!
Well, we eventually had a shakedown, where the top brass looked EVERYWHERE for alcohol--including in the toilet tank, and ceiling panels, and about every place where they would think we would hide the booze. They did not check 1 place--the most obvious place where they thought 'only an idiot would hide it there': The refrigerators!!!! Believe it or not, we did have some smart idiots that stashed it there, as they figured that anyone looking for it would never look there first!!!!
This is not an urban legend--just the facts!!!!

the government hiding stuff from us is the norm; the government not hiding stuff from us is the exception. Examples: extraterrestrial beings, the treatment for many cancers, AIDS, etc., each and every of the crap they're putting in our nutrition and water, what they're intentionally doing to the earth and ecosystem....and why? because of the fact a pair of fat cat super pictures on the stunning of the bureaucratic ladder have been given at the same time at some point and reported, ''hey, you recognize the way we could make much extra money is...''

if it a treat that has to be cold, then i stick it in the little drawer in the fridge that is for veggies :) it never gets found.
