I had a baby in February and an IUD in April, the pain comes when I am not bleeding and is more severe than normal menstrual cramps. Is this a normal occurance after either or should I contact my doctor?

Doesn't sound normal to me. Get an appointment with your doctor.

Yes contact your doctor so he can check on the placement of the IUD. It could also possibly be a cyst on the ovary which is very common and would give you the kind of pain you are speaking of. I hope you feel better soon.

If the pain is really sharp it could be an ovarian cyst. There's not much they can do for that except put you on birth control which you wouldn't want to go on if you're trying to conceive. I would make sure to talk with your doctor because it could be an ectopic pregnancy which needs to be tended to right away.

One possibility is that you could be having midycle pain. It's what they called mitzelschmertz. The only way to find out for sure is to consult your dr about this to see what they think this is. Yes, please contact your dr.
