Because most people are stupid. They don't know that most biracial or black people can come in any shade of color.
I'm biracial, yet most people think I'm white.

I doubt you will find anyone descended from African slaves in the USA who does not have some European ancestry. Some have more, some have less. There are also many people in the USA who have African ancestry but are unaware of it. This is why it is silly to try to define races or label people one thing or another.
Former Secretary of State, Colin Powell, has more Irish than African ancestry. Why do people call him African American rather than Irish American? Why not just call him American and forget the racial labels? Why label anyone?

Because people judge without putting any thought into anything. Im west Indian but beacuse of my complexion, i've be called a whole bunch of everything. I know it's tough be just calmly explain that no, you're not mixed. That's just your color

Maybe you look mixed to them. Its hard to tell if someone is mixed sometimes because a lot of mixed people favor one race more than they do the other.

Because they pry assume that wither your dark medium or white skinned unless your parents races were mixed.

I know, just because your skin is caramel doesnt mean you are mixed, they should pay attention to facial features too.
