Another option you can think about is going for a water polo suit. They are made so they don't rip or wear out. This means they are usually less flexible and less comfortable, but they just about never wear out. I've had a couple of my suits for going on six years and they still are fine compared to my regular speedos which have all been retired from "see-throughedness". They aren't good for swim meets, but you might ask your coach if he/she'd recommend using one (and maybe a drag suit) for practices.

The best thing I can say about speedos to take care of them is to NOT ring them dry. Its pretty easy to want to do, since (for guys at least) they get dry really quick that way, but they wear out twice as fast as well.

I find that the Speedo brand in't all that great and has about a 3-month lifespan. I prefer TYR suits, which seem to last much longer. On the contrary, Nike suits have a horrible lifespan. The best way to care for your suit is to rinse or wash it in clean, cool water after you wear it in the pool. Try not to store it wet either, let it drip dry or hang to dry before you throw it in your bag. Avoid the dryer, that's a given.

Some good suit sites are
www.keifer.com
www.tyr.com
www.swimoutlet.com

Just my experience! Good luck

Well speedos generally are for competing so, if you wore it to practice then yes it's going to wear out faster. For instance fastskins are made to only last about a month or one or two meets but for those to meets they work really well. But for practice suits i would deffinately go with TYR they last 4ever i have a bunch of them. I have had one for like 3 years and it is just now starting to fade and thin out! Hope this helps! Oh and to make them last longer.... make sure before you wear it for the first time soak it in vinegar it will help it keep it's color! and then to keep it from wearing out make sure you rinse after everytime in the pool! and deffinately don't dry it in the dryer!

All brands are fine. You want a polyester suit. Nike brands are bigger than the other brands so you'll want to get a smaller size. Make sure you read the materials.
100% polyester or something PBT is good. lycra is bad.
I have liek 3 polyester suits from my team and the oldest that sitll works great is 2 years old.
Make sure you dry out the suit when youre done.

The best way to take care of swim suits is to rinse with cold water after use... not to wash
