So,
You have played QB but get nervous in the pocket? Well iam just going to say this...If your nervous its ether because you are not confident in your game play or do not trust your offensive line period....
I think that you should play as many positions as possible!
You should play punter without a doubt if you can punt it that way be a multiple position player!.... Play Both Ways!
Work on your tackling...Hit the Gym and do sprints! Doing Squats,Cleans, Etc will help your explosiveness in hitting and making you a better football player...
If you want to play QB in highschool you need to be the leader and have the confidence to step it up! Only you can make or brake yourself...Bust your Butt for yourself because you LOVE the Game! Be HUNGRY, Show coaches your fire and passion to hit somebody, Run, Throw, Catch, Block...
Do it all and never tell yourself or let anybody else tell you that you cant do it!! Work hard eat right and Important then being athletic is being smart...So do good in school being smart can make up for some athletism..
Good Luck...

Despite what others may say, 5'9 isnt that short and 140 might be a bit low, but it will go up drastically in the next few years if you want to continue with football. I'd say that if you wanted to be QB, grow another 3-4 inches, and maybe gain 10 pounds. For a freshman at 5'9 and 140 the best position may be reciever, corner or safety. Halfbacks usually have more weight on them.
If your a bad tackler, perhaps reciever would be best considering almost all teams need a good blocking reciever. And by the way, usually the highschool teams let you be more than one position your freshman year, so i would try out for reciever and punter.
Just remember, once you start hitting the weightroom after your freshman season is over, you may gain up to 30 pounds in the offseason, ive gone up around 40 pounds since my freshman year and im going into my junior year now. try to stick with one position throughout your HS career, it helps.
As for what you need as a reciever... speed, agility.. all that good stuff
the equipment is the same for all football players, except for maybe special reciever gloves, some like em others dont.
Football for me starts in mid june, join the highschool football camp, its pretty necessary for all highschool players to do so. Actual practice starts in early to mid august, which is when the feared "doubles" or "triples" come, which is 2-3 practices a day. usually about 2.5 hours each depending upon your schools program.
Good luck in your freshman year.

Since you are quite small, rule out both lines. You say you can not tackle well, but that can be fixed. I would recommend safety or wr. If you can punt, then punt. Anything to get you on the field. Maybe a kicker as well. I know of a lot of players who were the starting qb and the punter....Keep your options open. Just work hard, and practice.

at my school the 8th graders have practice 6-8p m after us 2:30-6 pm u have to be in spring practice which i think its already over so that coaches can kno what position ull be good at.. u dont just pick a position.. they will tell u..
first u tell em what u wanna be and they will train u for thatif ur not good u can try soemthing else..
u should be receiver/cornerback if ur fast

wide reciever. it's easy 2 get hands just practice catching and ur not 2 tall but not short esp for a frosh n short wr's r coming up in the game newayz (steve smith, santana moss) also its hard 2 teach wr's how 2 block and since u already can thats a big + but i think u should try some punting to on the side cuz 50 yds is super good n u prolly could get a scholly to a div 1 college from that if wr doesnt work

I think you might be too short to play QB. You might be a good Full Back. (catching the ball out of the backfield, running, and blocking). Slot receiver could be a good fit - esp. if you get taller.
On Defense, sounds like you could be a good Inside or Weak-Side Linebacker.
You're still very young and still growing... you can play anything you want for now... but be sure to hit the gym, eat right, and absorb as much knowledge as you can.
By your Jr. year, you should know what position fits you best.
Good Luck. Go Giants.

Honestly it sounds like you could be the punter. If you only run "medium" WR is tough, with your size I'd stay away from the o-line. You can become a better tackler, practice, practice, practice. Have you thought about Tight end? You don't have to be super fast, and you're blocking can improve, (it's just determination).
Good Luck,
(Punter get college scholarships too.)

the only cure for making mistakes is to learn what you did wrong so you can practice for next time. If you are really nervous it helps to snap colored pencils in half(i know it sounds weird but i swear it works sooo good) or even a stress ball ( whick from experience ive learned not to pull them because the can pop) anyways get QB and practice. dont just quit because you make mistakes

your undersized your best bet would be to use that as as a weapon corner back or free saftey would be the best bet seeing as tackling isnt a major issue their and your speed should give you and advantage id suggest out side/ cover linebacker but if you cant tackle that may not suit you
as in for offense i would stay away from offense unless you have deamon speed as in you run better then a 4.7 40 if your that fast then definaly wide reciever but if not stay away cause you would be too small to fill in anywhere else
oh try kick returner it would suit you well
