talk to your dr about your condition ( dont know to much about it). Keep eating healthy and stay away from diets they dont work. You need to change your lifestyle ( much more commiment than a diet). Eat healthier, create a workout regime that you can stick too. Ask a friend to workout with you to motivate you, on those days you just dont wanna. Start off small and keep intergrating new things into your life. As far as your husband looking at playboy dont let that get too you. I'm sure he loves you very much, and sometimes it can be healthy in your relationship. When he is reading the magazine ask him what he finds appealing, and then ask him what he finds appealing about you. ( he might just surprise ya). I have been dealing with my weight my whole life, i changed myself for men, because my family made fun of me, i may not be my ideal weight yet, but on most days i'm content with who i am, believe in yourself and you can accomplish anything. good luck and remember ( thin doesnt mean healthy)!!!!!!!

Talk with your doctor. Hyper/hypo thyroidism may be your problem. Killing your thyroid with Radioactive Iodine can throw you into hypo thyroidism (which I have) and cause your weight to increase and not be lost so easily if left untreated or have changed (which is possible).

Furthermore, exercise (nothing to kill yourself by) and proper nutrition, especially green veggies, will help keep those negative thoughts in check.

I don't know if you have tried these, but here are a few ideas that have worked for me.

1. Decrease , don't eliminate, butter intake and salad dressings. Eliminating these will make you crave them even more.

2. Replace your soda with iced tea, milk (even with Nestle Quik), or water.

3. Fast food no matter what it is, is always bad. Even Subway, especially after topped with dressings or sauces.

4. Try to always brush your teeth after each meal. - Sounds weird, but if I am still hungry after I eat something, I brush my teeth after my meal and taste only the minty clean freshness of the toothpaste and not the food, which takes away temptation to eat again because it will make anything I eat taste funky for a while.

5. Park far from the entrance of stores when you go shopping. It will force you to walk.

Fad diets never work, except I heard weight watchers (which has been around for years is successful in many cases).
Most diets are similar to most 5 year plans, that end up disappointing people whenever they do not make ALL their goals in the specified time, thus making the individual gain even more weight than before.

As for surgery, I do not recommend it as a first resort. Everyone is different, and just because one person's surgery went without a hitch, does not mean that another person's results will not be the same.

I had a friend go through the stomach bipass surgery, she got skinny, but she was miserable for the longest time. She does not eat a lot of food, and she had complications for over a year digesting most foods, especially veggies, lettuce in particular, and said afterwards that she would not do it again if she knew she was going to be that sick. Her family physician said that these side effects were normal, which was scary.

Also, don't compare yourself to a computer enhanced photo of women who are not real. He's just letting his hormones get the better of him. Buy a couple PlayGirl magazines and see how he likes you looking at other guys.

Talk to your husband. If worse comes to worse, there is nothing wrong in seeking marriage counseling especially since you just recently had a baby. If you and your husband are not communicating as you state, it will be a positive thing to have a neutral party just sit there and arbitrate while the two of you work things out. Good luck and may the Force be with you.

You should drink lemon water when you are hungry. Take a half of a lemon and squeeze into a glass of water. Eat NOTHING but lean meats (no fats) and veggies, starches like bread, pastas, potatoes have lots of carbs and it turns into sugar and sugar becomes fat. Go walking. Walk about 2 miles everyday. Stay active, find something to do, clean house, wash the car, go to the park and walk. Keep active so you don't get lazy. Oh and eat a banana before you go walking it will keep the cramps down.

Hi,
I am going through the same thing. I too have hypothyroidism and it about nearly took me over the edge.

I have had trouble losing weight for the last 2 years and finally found a doctor who could help me out of Denver Co. He has me on levothyroxine for my thyroid and he started me off at low doses. He did increases about every 3 months till we found a level that stabilized the thyroid and I began feeling so much better. In fact I have so much energy and motivation to do things.

Now that my thyroid is functioning normally, I am losing weight. I have lost over 30 lbs so far. I am on a low carb diet and exercising. It's great and I can hardly wait to get to my goal weight. I stay away from breads, milk, fruit, and sweets.

Are you taking any medications?? Do you know what your levels are currently?

All through the struggle with my health, my husband had been spending alot of time away from home, but then too he has a gambling addiction. It's funny because now that I am feeling better and losing alot of weight, he now wants his space and to meet other women. I recently discovered he has been watching porn movies as well. I started to feel like crap and cried alot. It really hurts, but I'm letting him go and going to improve myself and move on.

If you'd like to know more about the diet I'm on, let me know. I'd be happy to help. dietdrpepper@syntek.ws

Don't worry about what your husband is doing and just concentrate on getting yourself well to where you can lose the weight. I bet then, he won't be looking at those magazines and desiring you more. :) Talk with women who are struggling with the same thing. I have found they can be a great support system.

Hang in there, one day you will be looking great again.

There are several things you can do: See your doctor first. You can go for barometric surgery, most insurances pay for it now. Threes another type called a clamp type. It's a very small incision and a clamp is installed on the stomach opening, can be removed later. Or, go on a ridged diet and stay on it.
All of these require some form of stability on your part.

Are you on medication (thyroid hormones)? See an endocrinologist.

I had my thyroid removed, and even medicated it will be tougher to lose weight. Try exercise instead of dieting and see a doctor regularly as you become active you may need to increase your dose.

Talk to your husband, you should be a team. You do not need to compare to a piece of paper, you are real.

I don't know much about thyroid conditions , so suggesting a particular diet may not be the answer, however, I do know about playboy magazines and they never equate to our spouses...and very seldom did I compare my spouse to pics or positions within the mag...and she was a BBW...it did not make me desire her any less....however, I suggest you do something about your weight issue for personal satisfaction, not what you think others dislike about it...good luck..you can do this.
