bobs was part of a national chain that had different names in different regions depending on who owned the franchise, in Michigan it was Elias Bros Big Boy , here in southern Calif. it was Bob's, right now there is only one Bob's left and it is located around the NBC Studios. All of them shared one thing and that was the Big Boy and they normally had a statue of this chubby boy on red and white checked overalls holding a huge burger at the entrance or on their sign

"Big Boy" was a restaurant chain that was popular back in the 70's. I believe that this particular chain allowed franchisees to personalize their franchises somewhat by adding their name to the title. Bob's Big Boy was one of the larger franchises. I grew up in the Utah area, and the franchise there was called JB's Big Boy.

A restaurant. There used to be a lot of them in So. Calif. Originally they had curb service with car hops and indoor dining. They had great burgers and the very best onion rings ever. I don't know if any are still around or where.
