I drive a Subaru, silver, i agree red is bad luck, we have had 3 red cars in our family and every one has been smashed with in weeks of having them.

I drive a 2003 Mazda 2 TS2 and a 1977 Austin Maxi 1750 Auto. I wouldn't personally own a flat red or flat navy blue coloured car, because these paint finishes oxidise and fade very badly in the sunlight, some red paint finishes fading almost to white. Fiat have added an ingredient to the new bright red paint on their Grande Punto range to combat this fading. I'm going to be watching this with interest as the fading is the only reason I won't have a red car.

I drive a 2006 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T. The color is Top Banana Yellow, my car is #769 of 4000 made in that color.

I bought my car almost 2 months ago. Before I had that I was driving a red 1999 Dodge Intrepid. I never had any real bad luck with it, it's actually been in my family since 2000 and has had a pretty good run.

I've never heard of green cars being bad luck, although it reminds me that around the time I was buying my Daytona a salesman was telling me about a guy that bought a Sublime green Daytona and wrecked it within the first week.

Hi yecart19,

You are the first person I have heard say a red car is bad luck. I have only ever heard that said about green cars.

I think a survey (a long time ago - 60's or 70's), stated green cars had more accidents.

A friend of mine wouldn't drive a white car; he says they look like they are unfinished; kits waiting to be painted.

Personally I would avoid silver as there are just too many about. That said, I haven't yet seen a Porsche 911 in a colour I don't like!

I heard a green car is bad luck but I've no idea why! Personally I am not superstitious and I also don't drive a car to be showy. I just have an average boring Kia, it's cheap reliable and gets me from A to B without hassle. What more do I need. Can't stand 4x4s. What's the point I ask myself.

I drive a 2007 Chevy Cobalt LT. I had a choice between silver and red, but I went with the silver. Cops can spot a red car a mile away and I don't need any tickets.

Jag XK in Jag racing Green (+ caramel interior)
Range Rover Sport in Rimini red (big mistake, should have had black for resale)
Ford Ka - blue
Citroen Berlingo In Gris Fer (pearlescent). Great car, sadly demeaned by posh and pompous acquaintances.

I don't think the colour is bad luck. Running into other cars is, though.

Land Rover 90. 17 years old, still goin.... Hows that for recycling? It's hand painted green, but I fancy painting it rescue orange, so colours not really an issue, as long as it's got a land rover badge on it, I'll drive it!!
