No, as the disc is only being read, you simply stop that operation.

No, actually when you push the eject button, the hardware controller sends a "stop read" signal and the read head (the laser beam and photo diode) stops reading and goes to the idle state. So there will be no damage to the CD or Computer. Try ejecting when you write something with a CD-RW drive. It will not eject because the writing software locks the drive until the writing process completes.

Pushing the button while playing will not damage the CD. However, it will cause the operation on your computer to stop and depending on the application produce an error message that in a worse case schenario will need to be ctrl + alt + deleted to exit out of.

No. Because when you press Eject, an automatic STOP command is also issued to the drive mechanism. This would be the case for both a read and a write. Though for the latter, you would likely mess up the media being written to!

Hello, i wouldn't do it. My quess is it could damage the cd or computer if you push eject while the cd is playing. You shouldn't do that. You should hit stop (or pause) on the program that CD is playing and then eject the CD. Don't push the CD drive closed with your hand, it could get broken. It's going to open by its self. Just hit the eject button and it will open . Good Luck!!!

Pushing the drive closed with your hand will do no harm whatsoever. With some drives (including my own) that's the only way you can do it. The eject button is mounted on a facia that drops down when pressed to allow the tray to slide out. The button is not accessible when the bay is open.

i dont think so, just try to avoid it as much as possible, it has a motor thing inside that is pretty much adapted for that, its a good habit to press the button that way you wont push to hard on the actual drive when closing.
but if done carefully it shouldnt break
