~~~ Not really, because you can't buy your way into Heaven with it. You can buy your way into Hell with it though.~~~
Okay, money is NOT everything. A good example of this is in the book "Gone With the Wind." She spends her whole life (during/after the war) building a business and taking any means necassary to get money. And in the end, she does get money, in fact, she's fabulously rich. Throughout the story, she says, "When I am rich, I'll make hell for anyone who was ever unkind to me."
The fact of the matter is, in her pursuit of money, she lost the love of her friends and her family, bacause she focused all of her love for money. She was a terrible mother, a cold wife, and just a cruel woman all in all. I'm not saying that all money-hungry people are like this, but in the end, they miss out on a lot in life because they were focused on something else.
It is true that money provides wonderful substitutes for everything that cannot be bought (i.e. true friends, family, love, contentment). But when you die you cannot take that diamond ring or your mansion, you can only take your memories and hopefully the love of friends and family. So no, money is NOT everything.
When it comes down to it money is nothing. If you have money does that mean you happy, NO, Sure you have your financial needs met but what about you emotional and physical need. You need someone there to make you a happy person. You need family and friends and a mate to feel those other needs. Money will make you do crazy things and truth is if your with someone you truly love and adore you can be flat broke living pay check to pay check and still be the happiest person in the world.
No, it's not everything, but it does mean a lot. Without money, you can't eat, have clothing or even a decent place to live. You can't even do things to help you keep your sanity like going out for a nice dinner, buying yourself some nice treats like a perfume or some great shoes. You have to eat a lot of crud when you're broke. If you've got a fair amount of money, then perhaps you can easily say that it's nothing. For me, a gal who ain't got much to fall back on, it means more than I want it to. Sigh.
Money is not or was not everything its just a little thing called capitalism that is taking over the world. We have reduced everything to their monetary values and therefore now money is everything because everything has had a monetary value placed on it.
It isnt everything but is sure is a great deal! The cliche that "money can't buy happiness" is completely wrong becasue TIME magazine wrote about those with more money tend to be much happier and relaxed than those with financial struggles. P. Diddy was wrong because "mo money" doesnt mean "mo problems!"
We know that it's not. We know that money is not too heady a dichotomy either to countenance, so easy is its meaning for and import to us to understand.
There lives the former professor and dean of communications at Howard University in Washington DC, Tony Brown, who once said in one of his weekly television broacasts a few years ago that he rates money "right up there with oxgen" in importance: it is not everything, but life forbid what living can be like without it...
physically, money is EVERYTHING. don't for one second believe that it's not. you need money to live, which is pretty sad. If you had no money, and were homeless on the streets....someone has to give you money or give you food which is bought with money. It's a sick world. Try living without money, you won't survive.
