Has a stranger approached you & your baby (maybe @ the supermarket or somewhere) to note how cute or sweet they were but not kept it at just a verbal compliment and put their hands on the babys hands/face etc? Was this action unacceptable for you although the words were well intentioned? What did you say or do?

You don't touch people's babies without permission.

Not ever. It's rude and possibly unhealthy for the baby. No matter how well intentioned it was.

I love this question! It happens to me constantly! I have 6 month old twins and yesterday in Walmart FOUR different people put their hands on their face without asking..FOUR in one shopping trip to walmart! I know twins get more attention because its kind of a novelty but i dont know where your hands have been. I dont ever know what to say, I hate to be rude but people wont stop unless you do! Im sorry I cant cover up my wide awake babies who LOVE LOVE LOVE looking at people with a blanket. They love the attention they get, and I dont mind it as long as they are not touched. You would think most people would respect that but they do not!

Yes this happens to me all the time I have a 2 year old and a 8 months old baby. When someone I don't know goes to touch them I just politely ask them not to touch my child they may look at me funny but you never know where their hands have been.

You just watch them as they are complimenting and when you see there hand move in for the inevitable touch, you simply say would you mind not touching him or her. You can say it politely, and if they get offended don't worry about it. It's your job to protect your baby!!

Yes...I simply stopped them from touching him and then asked that is they wanted to touch him that they use the Hand sanitizer that I kept in my purse and that they could only touch his hand or foot. THey usually got offended at me and left. For the ones who didn't get offended..I simply pulled out the sanitizer and then let them touch the hand or foot and then moved on to go about my business.

It hasn't happened yet, but I am ready if it does, I thought about the sick baby thing, then just decided that I would stand between the person and my baby so there would be no unwelcome touching.

No. Never happened but if it did, I'd be highly offended. You don't know whether or not people have washed their hands. You shouldn't let them touch your child's hands either because kids always put them straight in their mouths. Yuck. Gross.

i'm getting complimented semi-oftentimes, i assume. probable as quickly as each 2 weeks or so. in keeping with who the compliment comes from and how that is worded, I the two sense flattered or creeped out. human beings oftentimes compliment my hair color or form, the t-blouse i'm wearing, or my legs.

That is an ackward moment. Yes this has happened to me and I didn't know how to handle it. Later a friend suggested to just say - sorry my baby is sick, please don't touch her.
