80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

You can't escape death this is true but why would you want to? I believe the meaning of life is a spiritual journey to align your personality( the want part of you) with your soul ( the core of you). To die to self and love others unconditionally, easy to say, hard to do but everytime you do it, it gets easier. I think a great book for you to read and I would recommend it to everyone is "The Seat of the Soul"! For those of you who are looking for answers you will find them there...

The meaning of life is to not humiliate yourself while you are alive so that when you die, people won't think of you as a freak.

And also, live while you can. Live happilly, freely, whatever. Cause as you stated, you can't escape death.

The meaning of life is to create more of the species. Nature has evolved some interesting ways to assure that a species won't go extinct due to lack of procreation.

Everyone is looking for one, simple, straight forward answer...but there isn't one. The meaning of life isn't money, sex, love, family, God, etc. In my opinion, the meaning of life is exactly what you make it...what meaning *you* get from life, what purpose you draw. I do believe we all have that "one thing" to find that makes us happy/drives us in life, but it's up to us to find it...no one person can describe it or define it for us.

life is infinite in its possibilities that everyone should find out and apply their own meaning to life... since that death is inevitable and our questions will never be answered we should make up our own.
