Yes I use to know a boy called Ravi. I also use to know a girl called Ravi too but spelt it Ravee, but it sounds better for a boy. I think it possibly originates from India.

I knew a Ravi - it's east Indian. He was from a village in central India, IIRC. They didn't have last names, so he took the village name (Chandran).
The guy that played the east Indian sitar ( a kind of guitar) and was the guru for the Beatles was Ravi Shankar.

My son's call is Paul Holden. Paul after Paul McCartney and Holden from the unconventional "A Catcher interior the Rye". i like the two those names! additionally i think of John is appealing, so classic.
