People are so stupid saying the beatles.
You gotta go with the band who has stayed together longer than any other major rock band in history:
THE RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
They have yet to make a bad song - and they have more good songs than any other band ever. They do every style of song too - hard core rock, pop rock, rap style rock, hell, they've even done songs with no music and also songs with no lyrics.
So quit saying the beatles - teen sensations for a short period of time don't have anything on the RHCP.

The Who was good, but I'd have to say there are better bands.
Seriously, "Greatest" in a subjective question needs parameters.... Album sales? Tour Income? Chart domination? or are you just looking for a random input of everyone's favorites (Panic at the Disco? come on... maybe they are good, but the greatest?)
