do you see the homogonization of the human species as an impoverishment of the human spirit?.

I see the homogonization of the human species into a monoculture based on unsustainable(and often unrealistic) material aspirations as a great impoverishment of the human spirit. What do we lose from the great diversity of sacred beliefs and worldviews when these values are lost ? What drove human spirit to create art, song and dance , to cross the icesheets ? Everytime we lose a culture that has different ideas and different values we collectively lose a possible solution to the same problem we all collectively face as a species. Rather than homogenization of the human species I would hope we would learn to accept, respect and see that it is our cultural differences that make us such a rich species and learn collectively from them.

The human spirit will survive I think. All cultures have the right to progress and move forwards if that's what they want. The human spirit still exists in cultures that are already modernised, and there's no reason why other cultures can't do likewise.

I know what you're saying though, societies and cultures today don't seem to have much depth. Close communities are becoming more of a rareity and you could probably pass your neighbor in the street without recognizing them.

Everyone should still try to take time to center themselves and connect to the creative forces that flow inside us. But if primitive cultures decide to enter new eras, then that is their choice and we should respect that. Afterall that's what we did.

I don't see the modernization of primitive cultures as being too degrading to the human spirit. As human life carries on so will it's spirit.
What I see as more threatening to the human spirit is that there seems to be a general "dumbing down" of the population in general. Things like artistic creativity and human compassion seem to be falling by the wayside and are being replaced by technical amusements, egoistic attitude and a general overall selfishness.
On top of that, the things that are popular today do not substantially aid the development of human spirit.
A relatively small group of individuals can create a video game that will mesmerize millions of youth. Do any of these games instill a sense of humanity?
Things like i-pods, disc-mans, backseat DVDs only serve to cut off the individual from the rest of humanity.
This is where I see the problem

Well, it's certainly not a triumph of the human spirit!
How has the extinction of Early Man effected modern man?
While we're at it, how has the extinction of the woolly mammoth or millions of other mammals effected us?
Do we lift up so-called primitive cultures as gods or forget about them? All cultures have their strengths but sometimes the ability to change and evolve can be a weakness.

What makes you think primitive cultures have a monopoly on the human spirit? The human spirit will carry on. People are not automatons.

Point to your "spirit". It is the spirit that is part of primitive human cultures.

Homogenisation of human spirit is impossible.Genetic features get transmitted even if the entire world gets united and becomes one unit. The geographic barriers of rivers, sea ,mountains will continue and ensure diverse cultures.
