Who cares?? These people are still hating and fighting conflicts and resenting perceived slights that happened 500 years ago. Talk about a victim society. They have been doing it for so long it has become a part of their culture. From where I stand, they are in a permanent state of resentment and socially prefer to remain in the 14th century. Let them bark. Iran is just a coalition of 5 or 6 tribes united by Europeans for convenience sake. It still takes unusual laws and suppression just to keep them under control.

Wasn't a very 'covert' operation, was it?
But, really, if complicity in tampering with a nation's government were grounds for unending international emnity, the US should hate Canada for bringing us Multi-Culturalism, and Brittain and her 'rebelious colonies' should still be going at it hammer and tongs.
I mean, I'm not exactly young, and I wasn't even born when that happend - Iran is a decidedly 'young' nation - and not just in the sense of having a revolution in '79, the average age is low-twenties.
Doesn't it seem just a little more likely that the current dislike that Iran and the US has is rooted in basic differences that are extant, now, than in past grudges? Iran didn't back terrorist or insurgent attacks against the US and it's allies 54 years ago, it's doing it /right now/. The US wasn't menacing Iran on two fronts 54 years ago (the Soviet Union was), it's doing it /right now/.

Yeah, we're pretty ignorant of covert operations that happened 54 years ago. Doesn't even make our radar screen.

we don't hate america. we are persians. meow.
we are still purring over that civilian air liner you shot down under reagan, and wouldn't apologize for, but we persians are smart enough to separate a nation's great people from a great people's pitifully despicable leadership.
just like you are.

Duped by a myth spread by the Blame-America-First coalition, Clinton appears to have done little homework on Iran. The truth is that Iran in the 1950s was not a parliamentary democracy but a constitutional monarchy in which the Shah appointed, and dismissed, the prime minister. Mossadegh was named prime minister twice by the Shah and twice dismissed. In what way that meant that the US “got rid of parliamentary democracy” that did not exist is not clear.

We joe public are just pawns in the game of politics, and it's unfortunate that governments think they can keep playing GOD, I don't have very much else to say except I am sick of the English government, and last but not least I hate Maggie Thatcher the most.

Im loving this Ron Paul has popped open the lid and many Americans are slowly starting to understand the monster their government made which is the middle east today.
There's an enormous history regarding US affairs in the middle east that stem to what you have said.
Thank you Ron Paul!
--- Actually if you did your research McCain has said nearly identical statements about this issue.
to those who gave me a thumbs down you must have not read the 9/11 Commission Report
"Stop living in the past"
What you see today is the result of what happened in the past young lady..... Its called history and thats the entire reason why it's even taught in our schools!!! wake up!!! Go to school!!!

Along with the British we removed their Prime Minister because he had the audacity to nationalize their oil and shut us out. We helped install the Shaw into power, sold him our best weapons, nuclear technology and petted his ego, he liked the extravagant American lifestyle. He abused his power, neglected his people and bankrupted the country, the Ayatollah Khomeini rose in power and forced the Shaw to leave the country. During the Iran/Iraq war, the famous picture of Donald Rumsfeld shaking hands with Saddam, to whom we gave weapons and target intelligence in his fight against Iran. Yes, most Americans are ignorant to the facts or just dismiss those facts because they think we have some kind of god given right to treat other countries and societies like second class humans. We always seem to try to cheat them out of their resources rather then deal with people and countries fairly.
