i also need to know what x is plz help show steps too

x/6 - 5/8 =4 multiply both sides by 24
4x-15=96 add 15 to each side
4x=111 divide both sides by 4
x=111/4=27.75

Well the fall back will always be the product of all of the fractions. Thus if you multiplied everyting by 48 (6 x 8) you would get rid of all the fractions. However there are often lower common numbers.. 24 works in this case also since both 6 and 8 are factors.

When in doubt use the fall back. It just takes longer to reduce in the next steps.

there is a common denomanator of 24 so multiply both sides by 24 to get 4x - 15 = 96 then its just a simple algebra equation 4x = 111 x = 111/4 i think

find the common nominator, which mean:

24(x/6) - 24(5/8) = 24(4)
4x - 15 = 96
4x = 96+15
4x = 111

x-30/8=24

multiply by 8

8x-30=192

add 30

8x=222

divide by 8

x=27.75
