To feel happy?

2007-05-16 10:44:33 · 17 answers · asked by LUCKY3 6 in Entertainment & Music Polls & Surveys

SHESPAWN: My question was hypothesizing a Post Traumatic Happiness Disorder PTHD; however your alternative take was very insightful. I agree with you 100% and the only reason I never took an SSRI for my OCD…was because I feared it would resolve my OCD (he he he he). Exceptions apply, but in addition to your mentions, drama, depression, helplessness, anxiety etc. are additions. They produce both physiological and psychological reactions…and our environment responds accordingly. Moreover, aftertime, we become physically addicted to the neurotransmitters involved in such chemical reactions.

The answer to this question is a double edged sword. Many miserable people are only happy when miserable as it helps maintain a balance in their emotional state. They are not happy by standard means, but this act of constant drama and traumatization is what brings them more peace than the actual feeling of being happy.

In some cases, the act of correcting this, making a truly miserable person finally be happy can in and of itself be somewhat traumatizing for hte moment, they are now thrust into a feeling they are not used to, it can set them off their emotional rocker and cause for them a great deal of distress. When they feel happy, they feel now unworthy of this happiness and thus, are not truly happy. Vicious circle.

If I'm gonna get traumatized it may as well be by a fine babe! Go ahead and have fun, I'll be okay.

I am sure you wouldn't have to traumatize me to make me happy. I could think of a much better way, for starters feel free to talk to me. I am all ears or eyes....

If traumatizing me would make you happy, I'm certain you're capable in several capacities...
