our lovely 99 Accord Automatic has recently been stalling for no reason. when you get out of the gas to suddenly or are just coasting /slowing down to make a turn it will stall. I say its a problem with the fuel system somewhere or possibly the idle needs to be set higher, but my dad seems to think otherwise (what he thinks i have no idea) rarely it will have trouble starting. it will start, then die a second later. (def fuel or idle right?) its not the air filter as it is fairly new. Thanks for the help!

Yes the recall on the ignition was done in september of 2003. Probably should just do it again eh?

HAVE YOU CHECKED THE VACUUM HOSES? EVEN WITH GOOD FILTERS, IF AIR AND OR OIL CAN'T GET TO WHERE IT HAS TO GO, STALLING CAN OCCUR.

The ignition switch could well be the problem, but I would adjust the base idle to start. The idle screw is at the top front of the throttle body, and it's very accesible. You need to screw it all the way in, and back it out 3 turns. If you continue having the same problem, take it to your local Honda dealer.
Hondas rarely have problems with the fuel system.

There is the real strong possibility that the ignition switch on the car has worn contacts and is causing the stalling. Honda had a recall on that year Accord for the problem you describe. Recalls are performed at no charge to the owner regardless of the age or mileage on the vehicle and regardless of whether or not you are the original owner.

For your own safety, take the car to a Honda dealer immediately and have them check to see if the recall has been done; my guess is that it hasn't as your symptoms match those of the cars with the bad igntiion switch that caused the recall. If it hasn't been done, they can do it for you at no charge.

if the recall has been done, then put another post up.

hope that helps

My friend had problems exactly like this with his Infinity G20. Once we checked and tightened the hoses as well as the idler it started driving fine.
