there are slightly more than 365 days in a year, close enough to a quarter of a day such that every fourth year has 365 days to make up the slack. However, because the true fraction is a little less than a quarter of a day, ever 4th year that is evenly divisible by 400, the rule about adding a day is modified and in those years, there are only 365 days. Thus, while the year 2000 (the last year of the 20th century) was indeed evenly divisible by 4, it was also divisible by 400, and thus had only 365 days.

There are 365 days in a year except every four years when there are 366
If you want to get really technical about it, there are 365 1/4 days per year, but it's really tough to manage that 1/4 day. So we wait 4 years, and add a full day to catch up.

Technically, there are about 365.25 days in a year. But for practical purposes we just celebrate three years of 365 days then add a leap year to deal with the four 0.25 parts.

365.242199
The Gregorian calendar, the current standard calendar in most of the world, adds a 29th day to February in all years evenly divisible by four, except for centennial years (those ending in -00), which receive the extra day only if they are evenly divisible by 400. Thus 1600, 2000 and 2400 are leap years but 1700, 1800, 1900 and 2100 are not.

Slightly less than 365.25 days in a solar year. In the gregorian calander there are 164097 days in 400 yrs for an average of 365.2425 days/year. The exact number is closer to 365.2421 days. That would be more cumbersome to work into the calander & the error is considered acceptable.
