It seems I am database challenged. I've tried Access, My Database, and a couple other less known ones, with no luck. I am looking for a database program designer for people like me. Can someone please recommend one?

Access is about as simple as it gets, so if you're having trouble with that, you're not left with many options.

I'd ask that you give Access a second try, and use these resources:

Many ready-made templates for a variety of needs:

A book that really breaks down Access Step By Step, with lots of pictures and a CD including the demos described in the book:

Of course, in certain cases, there are specialized database programs for specific tasks, such as accounting (Quickbooks Simple Start) or client tracking (ACT!), etc.

Databases are not an easy topic, so don't get discouraged. Access is probably the most widely documented and/or supported database program. There are TONS of books on it, from "Dummies" level on up to advanced application development. Give one of the really simple, introductory books a try.

Now, aside from Acess, I've seen people do things with Filemaker Pro, but it's not the cheapest software out there.

MySQL
It is the most widely used database for 'professional' purposes, and is used vastly more than any other database software in web development. However, it dosn't have a GUI, so you would have to learn SQL. That isn't hard though.

This really depends on what your needs are and how good you understand how a database work....

There are so many out there, from FileMaker to Clarion, post more info and I am sure you will get more good answers.
