Well, you can trim it off but it probably won't stop the itch. If you want to try it, take it back to about 1/2 inch, or 1 cm. It will grow back at the same rate that the hair on your head grows back.
There are a variety of other things you can try. A doctor could prescribe a cream that could reduce or eliminate the itch IF there is any other cause for it - and there are many more than merely lice.
You could be allergic or have a sensitivity to the brand of soap you are using in your shower. Even if you have used the same brand all your life, allergies and sensitivities can suddenly develop for no apparent reason. Try an unscented or natural soap.
If this only itches when you are fully dressed, you could have a problem with the detergent or fabric softener used when your clothes are washed. Try changing that to a phosphate free unscented brand.
You may have a problem with the style of underware you are wearing. Try wearing jockey shorts instead of boxers or vice versa. If they fit snug without being tight they are less apt to cause a problem.
Good luck in finding the source of this itch. It isn't fun and can be quite unnerving to be itchy down there all the time! Take heart. Lots of people have the same problem. It simply takes perseverance to find the cause. O - and lots of people keep their pubic hair trimmed just because it looks neater!

Hi there. It is good that you do not have pubic lice. I doubt you do because the itching would be unbearable. many men groom their pubic hair these days. Some even shave it. It is just a matter of preference. The hair will grow back and won't thicken because we are all born with hair follicles that remain constant in number at maturity. Besides, heat and sweat, it is possible that you may have a slight reaction to residue left on your underwear from the detergents used or even the fabric that your underwear is made from. Trying a second rinse cycle on your washing machine can help. Most people find cotton underwear breathes better and this might help decrease the itching. Instead of fabric softener, using 1 cup of white vinegar in the rinse cycle can soften your underwear naturally and not irritate your skin. It will not leave a vinegar smell. Remember, if you do trim, sometimes the hair growing back can be itchy in itself. So, if you decide to man-scape, make it a regular part of your routine from1-3 times a week. Have a nice day and know things will get better.

Yes! Many guys do what's called trimming, while some shave it off entirely. Typically it takes a few months to get back to full length, but some people may grow it back quicker. Trim it short first to see if that solves the problem. Sometimes shaving it all off will cause additional itching because of the re-growth. Be careful, you don't want to cut yourself in that area. Best done with a hair clipper like a Wahl.

Try shaving off all your pubic hair. It is very liberating. Shave it every other day for a week or two. I think you will like the smoothness. The best thing about doing this it makes your penis look bigger also. If shaving is not your thing, I would suggest using barber clippers on the lowest setting to trim the pubes. Yes, it is ok to cut off your pubic hair.

Sure, it's ok to cut it. I don't think that's going to be the answer you hope it will.
A couple of things you might want to think about with this problem:
What kind of pants/underware are you wearing? You might want to try switching them up.
What soap, shampoo are you using in the shower? That could be causing a reaction to the skin down there and making you itch.
Have you considered using a powder? I know it sounds funny, but sometimes (especially in the case of sweating) that can stop the itching.

Yes. Cut it off. Do not shave it.
Use a beard trimmer and a comb to make sure you don't cut to close. You'll enjoy the coolness of it during summer and it won't scratch as much. You'll need to do this every 6 weeks or so. The area will be easier to clean, it will be cooler, and your unit will look longer.
Good luck!

Have you used anti-bacterial soap in that area? If so, that's the probable cause of your problem, and shaving will make it much worse. Anti-bacterial soap encourages the growth of fungus (it should be called Pro-Fungus soap), and one of the fungal infections you get from using it is called jock itch. If you have jock itch, it's very, very important not to trim or shave the hair, as poor air circulation, which is what you get with no hair there, also encourages the growth of fungus. Go to any pharmacy and ask what they recommend for jock itch. And get rid of the pro-fungus soap.

PLEASE don't cut off your pubic hair. I find that the more hair a man has there the more turned on I am. your hair will grow back but be aware it will itch even if you don't cut it all the way off. I cut mine off once and sweated more than I did before. I hated it bare and prefer my men to have lots of it. so e-mail me and we can talk about it.

I would cut just because women like it better shaved, but when it starts growing back it itches like crazy. It takes a while for it to grow back to normal length.

It's perfectly fine to cut your pubic hair off. And it will grow back exactly as it is now. However, during the first week after shaving it will hurt even more. You could have a fungus that is making you itch there. I'd see your doctor ASAP.
