Unless you can find a niche market (like the chopper guys) or specialize on some particular bike (Dr. Goldwing) you will not make alot of money. If you work for a dealership you will start right on the bottom. You will have to spend alot of money on tools and training, work hard, get dirty, be responsible for the riders safety with every repair you do, AND YOU STILL WON'T MAKE AS MUCH MONEY AS THE SALESMAN IN THE FRONT ROOM. I have been a mechanic for going on 27 years now, I have enjoyed it for the most part, but, as a money making career I can NOT recommend it.

You'll start out making minimum wage.
A name brand, dealership will start you out as an assemblyman (removing new bikes from their crates and putting them together).
This could last up to a year till they feel confident you know what you're doing.
Gradually increasing you mechanical duties by installing accessories, tires, brakes, oil changes.
Expect maybe 50c-$1.00 raise a year.
Don't ever expect to make 3x the minimum wage. 21/2x if your good and have at least 20yrs experience.
