FDR's alphabet soup program brought tons of initiatives to the united states, and the organizations such as the tennessee valley authority and food and drug administration were formed, all needing employees. Also becuase of it being wartime, the presidents cabinet was expanded. Each cabinet member can hire as many subordinates as congress approves(which is usually as many as they can name) and theres tons of people below them that are simple paper filers. Essentially world war two made more paperwork to be done, and the jobs to do such work were created.

as the two other answerers replied the weapons industry helped it out of world war 2 which has an interesting parallel to what is said of Hitler Hitler was credited with bringing germany out of the situation Germany was in through the armaments buisness so the u.s. was what germany would have been like without a Hitler or Nazi Party . which has a person wondering aside from the worse situation in germany was it that U.S. citizens were less inclined to anti-semitism as there was acertain amount in the U.S. also perhaps not to the extent in germany so was it that the situation wasn't bad enough for it to be used as an excuse to attack jews and to foment hatred of jews or could it never be built up to that extent as the hatred was not there to that extent also the arms industry continued to grow after world war 2 and various things happened similiar to what nazis did people were tortured something the nazis did in places with u.s. backed regimes science fiction books are often written about the subjectof what if the nazis stayed aruond and invaded south america well something of the sort has already happened but under the u.s. flag or that of those countries not the swastika evil does not have to be eqated with the swastika besides if enough is commited under the stars and stripes it to might be banned in the u.s.a, and another might take it's place
