In the late 70's or early 80's, we (a friend and I) saw Johnny Mathis at a diner on LI, in Hempstead, NY. Apparently he had recently had a show at some local venue- maybe the colliseum in Uniondale. The waitress came rushing over, all excited and showed us his autograph, on the back of a menu. I went over to his table- it was around midnight and the diner wasn't crowed, and he was very plesant and signed something for me- don't remember what, and I no longer have it. It was cute tho to see how excited the waitress was!

I took a class in college with Pearl Bailey. She was in her 60s and a long famous singer and celebrity and my college gave her an honorary degree for her work as a cultural representative of the USA. She had quit high school as a teenager to help support her family singing in nightclubs but had gotten her GED. After she got her honorary college degree she decided that she was going to earn it so she enrolled as a freshman at the age of 64. Pretty cool, if you ask me.
Anyway, I took an art history class my senior year and she was in it. She was kind of a pain in the a**, dominating discussion all the time. No matter what famous work of art we discussed SHE had seen it and had to give HER personal opinion.
The only time I talked to her for more than a hello, we were riding in an elevator. She had just come from the dentist office. She told me, "If you think finals are tough, try it with PAIN sometime, honey!"
Oh, and I used to live around the block from Jerry Springer's ex-wife. He'd come walking by with his daughter on visits every once in a while and I'd say hi.

Yes. It's been a few years ago, but a friend of mine and I were at a club in Baltimore and met a pitcher and catcher from the Milwaukee Brewers when they were there playing against the Orioles. We ended up going out to dinner and then taking them back to their rooms. We also got fantastic seats for Monday night's game. They came over during the warm up and gave us each an autographed baseball. Since we were in Baltimore's stadium, the Oriole fans weren't too happy about seeing that.

Oh let's see I've met Donny Osmond, Burt Ward (the original Robin on the TV show Batman and Robin), Marylou Retton, and several members of Def Leppard. I use to work at the hotel where some of the stars would stay when they came into town.

Yes, Paris Hilton and a party at the Hilton in Los Angeles. Janice Dickens when we interviewing models. Vince Vaughn when he was upset that he didn't get a front row seat at a fashion show. Countless others, its lame, and in no way does it impact your life other than realizing they live on a different planet.

Lance Parrish, Don Ase, Buddy Epson, Tom Cruise (jerk), Wally Joyner, Mark Goodman, Jack Youngblood - That's a short list from work. I was stuck in traffic next to Reggie Jackson when I was in college, he was very nice, made me laugh.
