What has the royal family ever done for you?

i was born in the so called royal borough of kensington and chelsea,i never saw them once,iv seen the palace from the outside,and i remember how the poor lived in that borough,

I don't even live in England, and I have seen the Queen and Prince Phillip. Phillip waved at the group of people I was standing with, from the bridge of Brittania. And I was close enouugh, as I watched the Queen ride by in an open carriage in a parade, that I could have reached out and touched her. I didn't, because I respected her enough not to.

I guess I'd have to say that I've gotten some entertainment from them.

Nothing and they will never do anything for me or for society. It is amazing that people always bring up the charities that they help, etc. What those people do not realize is that if I had nothing to do all day, and I volunteered my time to the charities for as little time that the royals do, shame on me for being so cheap with my time. In addition, if and when they donate money to anything, it is never enough. Due to economies of scale, the multi-millionaire donating a $100,000 to a charity means less than someone making $30,000/yr to donate $100 to a charity. But we focus on the millionaire and kiss their butts, but do not realize that the poor person helping out means that they will have to go without somewhere else.
The royals are a waste and I hope that the public will seize their land and kick them to the streets. Their claim to fame is that their ancestors were the best at lying, cheating, murdering, etc, all the positive traits that society finds offensive, but somehow people still kiss their butts. Makes you shake your head and hope that the world does go to hell in a hand-basket.

presented my ancestors with persistent artwork, oh and Queen Mary (of Teck) gave my super Grandfather a nickname that to his annoyance caught for something of his existence. And Queen Elizabeth (later the Queen Mum) sent some amazing flowers and touching letter of condolence whilst my Grandmother died in 1938.

For me personally nothing, but they do make us a lot of money due to the tourism they attract.......however they do cost us a lot.

I have nothing against them but I have no idea what they do !! I know they do alot of charity and good causes, but so do alot of people. The Queen is coming to my home town next week and having lunch at the Uni, makes me laugh as they have been painting and tidying up the place...planting trees etc.......as if she will know r care !!!

What have they done for me.. simple they have stopped egotistical over paid salary expenses interested politicians from being the seat of true power.

without the royals the country would be a politically policed state.

The royals were born into this system, that was their fate. they didn't ask for the position.

Nothing except cost a fortune in taxpayers money. The money they supposedly earn as a sideshow for tourists doesn't make up for that.

Sore point with me i'm afraid..If you take a look back in history,you will see they have done nothing for anyone but themselves..When Charles married that poor little sod,Diana,i thought at last we have some spirit amongst the Royals but they managed to destroy her just as they did with Princess Margaret...
