Yeah, we all seem to have too. But it would be nice if we could start to change that.

All people from everywhere have to deal with stereotypes, including white people. I live in South Carolina and because of that I am considered a redneck, which I'm not. People from the north get a bad wrap and are stereotyped as rude and obnoxious and clearly they are not all like that. Stereotypes have been around forever I guess and even though we have made some progress, people still like to categorize people. All people from the same place aren't alike. We are all individuals with unique personalities and should be treated as such.

Unfortunately stereotypes exist for a good reason. Some call it Cognitive Economy. Basically our brain needs to classify things for retriveal purposes and because we can't know about every individual possible instance. Sometimes these classifications make sense (cats have 4 legs). Yes not all cats do, but the majority do. Other times these classifications don't make sense (people from South Carolina are Rednecks). We just have to recognize our brains limitations and work on ourselves to make ourselves better.

in accordance to the stereotypes i've got heard right here, I must be on my knees consistently worshiping statues, accepting the Virgin Mary as my very own lord and savior, plotting wild conspiracies against Protestants, and not formidable to make a single flow devoid of Papal consent. Oh, and we Catholics are not even Christians besides, a minimum of in accordance to a pair of thousand different posts right here in R&S. besides, a minimum of we are no longer the only ones being bashed. The Wiccans, atheists, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and all people else gets to connect in the relaxing and have their ideals and critiques slammed, besides.

Everyone has to deal with stereotypes because everyone fits a certain 'category' of sorts. I'm of Russian heritage but am Canadian, and some people automatically categorize me as communist or poor, neither of which are true. There will always be stereotypes and some of them are true, others should be fought, that's life.

Their are stereotypes for every group of people, it's a way for our mind to categorize information. The bad thing about them is when people are not smart enough to realize stereotypes are generalizations and not a trait every person in whatever group has.

People say that I'm a skin head b/c I shave my head. They think I'm racist. The truth is that most of my friends are not white.

in the world today, it seems as if you have to be white in order to be a racist. that is mainly how black people make it out. white people can be called anything in the book, but as soon as we say something, we are racist.
