hockey needs to sign multiple networks like usa, spike tv, etc. why bother pushing the center ice package before u get fans back into hockey. doing this would help the process in bringing new fans in and old fans back to hockey. it might cost a little bit more to start with, but i'll bet hockey will grow a little more if they do this

I think that the announcers are very biased and you're right, the Red Wings are getting no love from them at all. It seems that they all had a bet before the play-offs on who would win, and they announce as if all of the viewers are in that bet.
They are also too old. You have to be at least thirty to hear them talk. The NBA announcers can be 100 years old, but they at least say cool things without that ugly half mullet.
My biggest problem is that they can't figure out anyones name outside of the star players. Neidermayer passes to uh, and then to Pronger, then over to uh... stolen by Lidstrom to the um, right wing, um... They sound stupid.
They need some younger, less trashy ex players. I think Hull is great, and maybe throw in someone that didn't play hockey. Just a thought.

Its not good but ALL national broadcasts (not just VS) of hockey are usually worse than the local broadcasts. But on the positive side, they do LOVE the sport.
You are obviously a Wings fan so I understand your take on the VS team's broadcast... but MOST people didn't think the Wings could go this far in the playoffs (me included). On paper, Anaheim is a much better team AND I certainly didn't think that a 41 yo Hasek could take the pressure (you have to admit, he has crumbled in the last few years).
Every team thinks their own team does not get the respect that they it deserves. Accept that and move on... I expect the Wings will win the conference so cry over this slight on your way to the Finals.

I'm glad the NHL is on TV regularly but if i wanted to hear people "hate" the Wings i'd just watch CBC. At least it's justified by them actually being Canadian.
Mike Emrick knows nothing about how hockey is played. I can't believe he lives in Michigan.
And why is every 6 foot wide shot the most exciting thing ever?
I know i'm a little bias myself being a Wings fan but my favorite moment was last years first round, wings/oilers, wings up 2-0 in one of the games, oilers score 1 and Emrick says:"and NOW we have a hockey game!"
as if, a wings lead, was not a hockey game to begin with.

LOL, just had this conversation with some other hockey fan friends.
The majority decided that it didn't matter what teams were playing, the VS announcers had a distinct favorites in each series and only said "positive" things about the other team when it was obvious that the other team was going to win.
We actually timed it one game to see how long it took them to even mention the "non favorite" team at the begining of the game. (Three minutes devoted the favorite, then 1.5 minutes blurb about the non.)
I've never been a fan of Clement and Engblom drives me insane.

At least VS is televising the games. If not for them hockey in the US would be just a memory. Turn the sound down if they annoy you that much. Not every sport has announcers in the same league as Thom Brennaman and Joe Buck.

Its like being sodomized with a chainsaw. Seriously, the only play by play worse than that is the freshly fired Kurt Kielback from Phoenix. That guy sucked so bad.
But youre right, there is so much bias, its ridiculous. I cant wait for Brett Hull and Don Cherry together... WOW

The "coverage" I like its the people talking I dont like. I think VS is doing a great job covering the NHL Playoffs and I think if they had some better people there it would'nt be so bad. I cant stand Brian Englom (Barry Melrose wanna be) and Keith Jones. Matt Clement is the only decent one! I am just glad somebody picked up the NHL where would we be without no coverage at all?

i also hate the vs crew! i hate the announcers and i hate the coverage in general. there are things you do and there are things that you dont do....
what you dont do is show a montage of holmstrom getting his goals and being happy and high fiving the team and then close with the hit that left him bleeding and in pain on the ice. that turned my stomach i was so mad. they would NEVER do that on FSN.
not to mention that the scoreboard is too big for my tv it gets cut off on the one in the living room and it seems too big on the one in my room. AND the camera men cant keep up with the puck half the time! I HATE VS!!!!
ugh. i just want ken and mick back!!!!

I dont really like that VS covers the playoffs if anyone has noticed how they tend to favor Ottawa. Ive noticed how they show the "great saves" that Emery has made but yet they dont she the Great Saves that Miller makes I dont loke that at all especiaally when they shouldnt be biased
