If a presidential canidate of the opposite party of yours was able to ensure a victory in Iraq, and came through with it, would you vote for this canidate? But here is the catch, all of the other beliefs and values of this canidate would be with their party lines. So in essance, would you vote for the opponent if you knew they could win the war? Discuss your opinion either way, don't just say yes or no.

That's why it is a hypothetical question. Suppose somehow you could predict the future and you could see that the war had been successful and terror had been reduced. Just imagine for minute this is possible.

No, I would not.
I'm a big fan of the two party system. I will vote for whichever party is closer to my opinion on the issues that matter to me. If that were to somehow switch, I would switch parties. However, on Iraq, if there were a candidate that I agreed with in the other party, that would be only one of the many issues I care about which the other party would be closer to me than my current party. (There are, in fact, around 3 issues that the other guys are closer to me than my party, but, for the most part, I fall pretty much on my party's side, particularly on my most important issues).

If you had paid any attention at all Iraq has no military force anymore .
We defeated any governmental run military and as such are now engaged in a battle with rebel forces who are supplied from dozens of sources from within the region .
As such any candidate that could end this war among the rebels would need to use such force and violence violating all previous human rights gains as to set the world back 65 years .
Since I would support a person of this nature I am sure that we would also see eye to eye in most other areas .

The war in Iraq is one small issue in the grand scheme of things. I'm conservative, so if I found a democrat that would ensure victory in Iraq, ensure victory in the war on terror, secure our borders (and I mean SECURE), lower taxes, solve the illegal immigration problem...and do all that without bringing dishonor to the office of President of the United States....yeah, probably.

No I would not. I have never been a single issue voter. For that matter our nation has never been a single important issue nation. I am a mature enough thinker to realize that we as a nation cannot ensure a victory in another nation's civil war. Only that nation can do that. Victory in Iraq will never automatically translate to a victory over poverty, lack of health care, crime or environmental issues here.

Depends how extreme they were. If they were relatively moderate, I'd be interested in hearing their thoughts on winning a war against an ideology. I can't imagine how you can possibly defeat thought, but sure, I'd listen.
As for my vote... well, your question is flawed, in that we wouldn't know whether they'd "won the war on terror" until after they were in office. I don't vote on a "maybe" with regard to things like that.
And I especially don't vote based only on one issue.

All of the Presidential candidates opposite of my party are for losing the war. So it would be hypothetical. The answer is no, because someone in my party is for what I believe in and for winning the war.

I would vote for the candidate who has the same beliefs that I do. Your hypothetical is not reasonable. No one can predict the future.

No, that'd be pretty stupid being as once the war was over everything else would go to hell. Any war that's winnable can be won by more than one person.

You have to fight the war to win it. So that eliminates the democrats. I will vote for someone willing to keep fighting the terrorist bastards.
