Depends on the operation, but I'd suggest you'd ask your doctor....

Hi. Several years ago I had a simple operation for an inguinal hernia and I wasn't allowed to drive for 10 days. Mind you, I didn't feel like it, either! I was really surprised at how difficult the most simple things were - opening a car door, getting into bed, etc. You may not want to read any further, but opening my bowels (eventually) felt just like giving birth to a family of hedgehogs!

ok so lots of people can come up with the same answer, it depends on the surgery - but in many ways it is true. You will be told by the doctors or nurses treating you when it is safe to drive again. One thing that no one has mentioned yet is - check with your insurance company, generally if you have it in writting ( information leaflet) that you can drive they will be happy but,,,,, they are always looking for a way out of paying up and recent surgery might just be it.

After my kidney transplant, I had to wait 8-12 weeks, I could drive when i could do an emergency stop without a problem, that was what the Doctor told me, as long as i was not in discomfort and was able to do the above. Good luck. xx

Its not the operation itself, its the medication. depends on what they gave you pre and post operation. Call your doctor or local pharmacy, but most importantly, know your own body. if you feel you could pose a danger behind the wheel, dont drive.

Depends on what you had done; I drove myself home from day surgery to remove a large mole from my upper arm. I did feel queasy though.

If your op was anywhere that might be strained by driving, e.g., groin, abdomen, etc, check with your doc., but once the anaesthetic has worn off completely, you should be ok.

This would obviously depend on what the operation was.... you need to be more specific. Maybe check with your surgeon or hospital.
