that the vehicle you drive puts out more harmful pollution in a day than a smoker does in a month? Driving your kid to school harms them more than the dude on a smoke break.

And don't say you HAVE to drive. You don't. The last gallon of gasoline I bought was in 2002.

Yeah, I always wondered why people make a big deal out of somethings, and not others. I guess if it will affect the way they live then they prefer not to bring it up, but if they are non smokers then they can complain because stopping it won't affect them. I have always wondered how they know that that guys lung cancer was caused by cigarettes as opposed to the hours he spent in stop and go traffic on a daily basis. People who have never smoked in their lives still contract lung cancer.

Actually, cigarette smoke is more dangerous because it is not as dispersed, whereas car exhaust is readily dispersed. Drving the kids to work doesn't do more harm if the guy on the smoke break is right next to your kids.

Most people do have to drive, whether you want to believe it or not. The bigger issue is getting car companies to switch to more efficient gasoline engines and get off of oil as a fuel alltogether.

That is not really a valid comparison if you are referring to indoor smoking bans in restaurants and other businesses. I don't know many people who turn their car on and sit in their garage enjoying the fumes.

I don't suck on exhaust pipes.

Do your children suck on exhaust pipes?

Are you aware that the private jet that Al Gore takes overseas to give speeches gives out more exhaust in one flight than that of all the cars of all the people who will read your question in a month?
