1.) what does the beastie end up being? Is it really just what simon thought it was (them being afraid of what they could become, a beast or savage) or was it suntin else?

2.) Who or what is the Lord of the Flies?

1. The beastie was a man whose plane had crashed. He ejected out, already dead, and landed on the mountain of the island. His parachute was caught in the trees so that in a small breeze, it lifted his head up and down, thus giving him the appearance of being alive, breathing, looking up and down. Simon later figured out it was a man, not a beast and went down the mountain to tell the others but was killed by them, because they thought he was the beast.

2. The Lord of the Flies was the pig's head - it symbolizes evil, the Devil. The evil within the boys, within humans.

Awesome book. My 10 english teacher has a good eye for amazing literature. Amongst everything we read, Of Mice and Men, The Lord of The Flies, and of course, The Catcher in The Rye, all great books, highly recommend them all.

Oh crap...I'm a bit rusty on this book (been awhile since 6th grade!).. but the Lord of the Flies is a pig head they speared on a stick... which rots... aka.. brings flies. The beastie, I seriously dont remember, although I thought it was a dead guy/kid?

ehh... dont trust me, its been too long. Do your homework!

There is no beast. The boys on the island believe to be a pig (which they later slaughter and put its head on stick) but as the story progresses and the boys soceity devolves the rumor of the best persists and ends in the death of one of the kids. That is all I will tell you. It is up to you to decide what the title means. This is a great literary work and a superb example of social commentary. Enjoy it.

I can't remember what the beastie is (you might look on Sparknotes.com or Pinkmonkey.com), but the Lord of the Flies is another name for Satan.

2. A dead pig

Finish the book, Kid. You need to read a lot more.

i hated that book. I can't remember anything about it except the airplane comes back for them and turns out it's themselves that they're afraid of... We never did figure out who the lord of the flies was, except our english teacher told us it was the pig's head on the post........................
