80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

If you're looking for the definition of life, you're in the wrong place. Try dictionary.com.
If you're asking what the general purpose in life is, then you may be in the right place.
The meaning of life varies widely from person to person. It's something that you'll have to do some soul searching about, to find YOUR purpose. I've been searching for two years, and I still haven't found mine. I know people who all they want to do in life is teach students, and so they've done that. They've published books that go far beyond their own classroom, touching students around the world. They're willing to work with students, just so they know the student understands a basic topic. There are people who's meaning in life is to make everyone else's life a living hell. Perhaps financial aid counselors fall in to this category, with bullies. I think the average person tries to be semi-successfull in what they do, and to have a decent sized posse to talk with and hang out with.
These are just my views on the meaning of life, and there are many more. I think the best thing you could do to find your meaning is to sit and soul-search. Perhaps journal, or meditate.

You weren't created just to consume resources-to eat, breathe, and take up space. God designed you to make a difference with your life. While many best-selling books offer advice on how to "get" the most out of life, that's not the reason God made you.

The belief that life must "mean" something is probably responsible for more strife in life than any other concept.

The meaning of life is Unconditional Love. Your purpose in life is to awaken to your unity with God in unconditional love.
"God dwells within you as you".

The meaning of life is for you to learn that you are GOD...You just haven't figured it out yet.
But everyone will awaken eventually.
