Some Drs. will tell you not to swim during the last few months, due to increase risk of infection. I however swam up until I lost my mucus plug. Tanning is not good because the baby cannot regulate its own body heat, and when you tan your body gets very hot and can be harmful to the unborn one cooking in ya! Just watch your body heat if you lay outside make sure you stay cool (if that is possible....lol)

Swimming is one of the BEST exercises you can do while you're pregnant, no matter how far along you are (unless your water has broken.) It doesn't cause stress on the joints and it's a good cardio workout.

As far as tanning in the sun while pregnant, I don't know how safe that is. All I can tell you is I did it, my mom did it, I've seen a bunch of other obviously pregnant women do it (at the pool and the waterpark) and it's my opinion that as long as you don't let yourself get overheated (drink plenty of water and be sure to take a dip in the pool to cool off frequently), I would imagine it's okay (my babies all turned out fine, and I tanned with all three of them.) But to be on the safe side, check with your doctor first.

You might try one of those self-tanners, too.

Of course you can go swimming at eight and a half months! It is the best relief you can get from carrying all that weight around. I swam every day. I wanted to live in a water hut in the lake. *lmao* And tanning is never safe for you. Skin cancer and all that. Won't hurt the baby now, but when you're keeling over later on when they're an adult, they'll be a little upset about it.

Swimming is a great exercise while pregnant. Easy on the joints, relieves the weight of your ever growing tummy & is good for you. It's one of the best exercises to do. There hasn't been enough research for a tanning bed. Just sit outside and soak up the natural light (still use some sort of sunblock). I did this with all 2 pregnancies.
Good Luck

Swimming is an excellent source of exercise while pregnant. But don't jump off the diving board or sides, be careful with that.

Tanning however you should steer clear of , its one thing to be outside and get color, but don't go to tanning beds or lube up and lay out all day.

Stay hydrated and enjoy the last weeks of pregnancy!

Swimming is ok. Check the water temperature. Anything that is too warm could cause you to become too warm and may do damage to the baby.

Tanning at a salon is a huge N-O. Any reputable tanning salon won't let you past the front desk.

Tanning in the sun is a big no- you'll raise your temperature and open yourself up to skin cancer.

As long as your obstetrician says it's okay to swim, there should not be a problem. Swimming is a nice way feel weightless, which is great when you are pregnant.

Regarding tanning, it s probably not a good idea to bake in a tanning bed, but if you are outside in natural sunlight, just make sure you drink a lot of liquids to stay hydrated. Again, ask your obstetrician because he/she knows best.

YES. Swimming is actually a very good way to get a workout while you're pregnant. It takes pressure off your body and you'll feel comfortable because you won't weigh as much in the water. As for tanning that is perfectly safe as long as you use tanning lotion that has sunblock in it and don't burn yourself to a crisp.

Yes. Swimming is low impact and healthy. It's one of the best exercises you can do when you are preggie.

As far as tanning goes. Tanning is never safe as it is the leading cause of skin cancer. Slap on some sunscreen and enjoy your swim.
