I'm interested in cloth diapering my next baby. I've done a lot of research online, about different types of diapers and how to wash them, etc.

But one thing I still have trouble imagining is actually going out on outings and having to deal with stashing dirty cloth diapers. I would love to know other people's experiences with this. I'm considering having some disposable diapers for such times.

I have used grocery sacks, Ziploc bags and a wet bag. The wet bag wins without a doubt! For one it is easily reusable as you just wash it with your diapers. It also helps the smell. I just turn the wet bag inside out into our diaper pail and toss in wet bag when I get home.

I also use Imse Vimse diaper liners when going out. If our son dirties his diaper I can just take out the liner and flush it then put the diaper in the wet bag.

Look up wet bags on www.diaperpin.com to find one that would fit your needs or you can make your own.

I often wonder what most of today's moms would do if it were 40 years ago and you didn't have a choice but to use cloth diapers.

Do now what we did then, rinse them out, put them in a plastic bag and put them in the bottom of your diaper bag until you get home, then you throw them in the diaper pail along with the rest of them until it's time to do the laundry. What's the big deal?

It beats having to find a trash can to put a dirty diaper in or do you just do what others do, throw it down in the parking lot? That's always an appealing way to rid yourself of a dirty diaper.

I applaud you for wanting to use cloth, but if you are using cloth for the idea that it is the "green" thing to do for the environment, then do it 100% and don't use disposables at all. One thing you will find out is that if you use cloth all the time you will be more inclined to potty train your child a lot sooner than you would otherwise because it isn't as convenient to just put a diaper on him/her.

Oh, by the way! I'm incontinent and I wear diapers 24/7 and yes, I use cloth, day and night.

Good luck.

I used to nanny a set of twins that used cloth diapers. What we did was always put a couple of extra gallon sized ziplocs in the diaper bag for dirties. That way we didn't have to open a smelly ziploc to put a "new" dirty away AND we didn't have to worry about leakage over the rest of the diaper bag. If you're concerned about other people seeing the dirtys in a ziploc, you can put the filled ziplocs in a plastic bag within the diaper bag. Just remember that if you're using cloth diapers, you HAVE to remember to take them out as soon as you get home as you'll be sorry if you don't.

The couple I nannied for used a diaper service. They said it was the best money they ever spent since they didn't have to launder the diapers, just use and put in the hamper for service.

Good luck!

I kept zip lock bags for the dirty diapers for the first one and use disposable ones when I was out for the second. I didn't think it was a big deal to use the cloth. After rincing out, I kept my diaper hamper filled with Biz water so they could soak and wouldn't get stains. I would pour the water off and run them through a rince cycle before I washed them. They stayed bright white! Good Luck with yours!

I would get disposable diapers for outings. I wouldn't want to have to carry around a dirty diaper. It would still save a BUNCH of money and such to use cloth diapers at home. so if i were thinking of using clothe diapers i would defiantly have disposable diapers for when i go out.

bring zip lock baggies in your diaper bag, that's what i do, it's really no big deal, also can hold in toilet and flush first, it rinses it out some, put a deodorizer in the diaper bag but you cannot smell through the zip lock, good for you, it is best for baby, and the earth, it will also help have your child trained by 18 months, it really is a wonderful thing, my older children are proud to tell people their mom uses cloth diapers and wipes, also about the zip lock baggies, we wash and re use, no sense saving the earth one way and destroying it another

Lauren J and Laura S are surely precise with their solutions, yet there additionally are different issues to contemplate in case you have been to apply disposable diapers. I used fabric diapers on the two considered one of my teenagers and that they on no account had rashes or leaks and this became into back once you had to apply diapers and pins and the previous plastic pants over the diapers. Disposables take an prolonged time to biodegrade, the traditional newborn for the period of the diapering component of their lives will use 3000 - 3500 diapers. it fairly is a huge form of waste to place right into a landfill to not point out the human waste, the pee and the poop that get thrown away with the disposables, yet there are extra issues than that with disposables. pass to this internet website and study the 1st website approximately each and every of the negatives appropriate to disposables. one difficulty is the absorbent crystals hat wer banned from tampons in 1985 because of the fact of it is link to poisonous marvel Syndrome. something of the region is stable for looking eco-friendly products on your infant. i choose to function that i'm urinary incontinent and would desire to positioned on diapers myself 24 / 7 and that i've got tried the two disposable and fabric and whilst an grownup, i'm going to positioned on fabric diapers basically for an identical motives i'd basically positioned fabric diapers on somewhat one. stable success.

Yeah, that makes sense. otherwise, you'll need bottled water to rinse those nasty diaper in the toilet and double baggies for bagging them for the return home trip. Here is a handy tip, use plastic bags like newspapers come in, slide you hand into the bag, now use your hand like it's gloved to handle the mess. when rinsed and clean, turn the bag inside out and knot it up. The diaper is contained, your hand not so germie. just wash your hands and your ready for travel.
