i dont know what to do. is too many piercings to ugly to a ppoint.

I think that too many piercings begins to look un-kept and kind of over-done. one or two, maybe three, but once you get more than that it is overwelming and un-attractive

When it's done tastefully and nice earrings are worn it does not look bad. I have a friend (straight and married) that has 5 piercings and she wears graduated small hoops with the largest one on bottom being no bigger than the size of a quarter. I (also straight and married) have 7 pairs, but wear 3 small sterling silver loops, a pair of small squiggly earrings my husband made me followed by 3 small silver balls studs, and it doesn't look bad. I've never had people say "wow, you have a lot of piercings" and then make a face. I usually get "wow, that looks cool". And if it's done tastefully it is no means for unemployment unless you'll be working in a hospital or a very formal office where most jewelry is seldom worn.
The point when it gets ugly is if all the earrings are mismatching, loops pair with studs, pair with diamonds, pair with another whimsical earring. But if they're all matching then it's less distracting on the eye. I am of course speaking for women.
As for men...I think they look better with just small guaged ears, no bigger than a 6. Diamond studs looks so cheesy and only certain kinds of guys can pull of loops and still look good, but not all of them.
To Jed O above...the holes will stay open as long as you wear earrings frequently or seldom. If, with some people this can happen, you rarely wear them, maybe once a year, they can close up and you'll be left with nothing but a memory...of where it was, no scar.

u can never have too many, in my opinion!!! i have a total of 14 piercings, out of which 7 are on my left ear & 3 on my right...i have considered getting more, but haven`t decided if they will be on my ears or another place...i have never had any problems obtaining employment because of my ear piercings, as another person mentioned above & in any case it doesn`t matter for me, as i own my own business at this point & i am the boss!!! i luv piercings, both on myself & other people!!!

In general over doing anything looks bad.
Specially for a woman. Its gets too ugly at a certain point.
Simplicity is always best.

You can decorate yourself in excess in many ways (clothes, makeup, and jewelry) and it becomes unattractive. I'm not sure how many piercings is too many really. 2 is my personal limit. It might be different for someone else.

Yes, stop before your ears are covered in holes that will leave scars should you ever decide to adopt more conservative jewelry wearing habits.
