You probably are just bloated.... that happens for the first few weeks. Yes if they were to do an ultrasound they would be able to see if it is twins. With a singleton the uterus doesn't leave your pelivis until 12 weeks so if the dr. feels your stomach for your uterus and he/she can feel it then he may do an u/s to check. Also if when they listen to the heartbeat and they hear an echo or double beat then TWINS it is! lol
Good Luck and happy and healthy pregnancy.

I was pg with twins first pregnancy. My clothing fit me fine until I was about 12 weeks, that's when my Dr. noticed the head of my fundus was higher than it should be. At 8 weeks you should be the same as you would be with just one. A big weight gain in first trimester can indicate twins, I gained 12 pounds by 3 months with my twins and nothing so far and I am 9 week with a singleton now. Ask your Dr. to do an ultrasound.

I look quite pregnant at about 9 weeks now - at least I think so - but I also know that I am horribly bloated. I haven't really gained much weight. Just lots of gas, etc. I have an US next week. They want to verify the age of the pregnancy, although I have a pretty good idea of when I ovulated. They just want to make sure, I guess.

They should be able to tell you at the ultrasound whether or not there's twins. I'd ask your physician about that. But because of my diabetes, I was the same way. At 8 weeks, I had gained only 5 lbs, but by 12 weeks, I had gained 16. It depends on the person, and other health conditions.

I think we are in the same boat! I am 9 weeks third pregnancy... I have one daughter. I look like I am about 4 months too.
They say if you have had a prior pregnancy... including a miscarriage depending upon how late in the pregnancy it was lost. You could show sooner. Your muscles and uterus have like a memory cell. They know when something has happen before. They just go back to what they remember.
Hope this helps!

Have you had an u/s yet?
If you've been pg before you will get bigger quicker, but I just gave birth to twins(my 3rd pregnancy) and I got big quick. Like at 3 months I already looked 6 months.
Could be. You should see your Dr. and ask for an u/s!!

Even if its multiples, the baby (babies) are so small still, you wouldn't show yet. More than likely its bloating or excess fat pushing out (everyone has belly fat, even skinny people, lol). With my twins, I was barely showing at 16 weeks. People couldn't tell I was pregnant till closer to 18-20 weeks. Best of luck.

More than likely. Since you're 8 weeks you should have a sonogram coming up soon. The doctor should be able to tell you if there is more than one baby, unless the other baby is hiding or something. Twins means double the fun!!!

Could be. My doctor told me when I was pregnant with my first baby that since it was my first, my stomach might grow fast. I'm 8 months pregnant with #4 right now and look about 5. Anything is possible, though. Good luck.
