I have definitely known several women, and one guy, like this... this is one of the most annoying types of people that exists. Someone with some serious guts needs to have a sit-down conversation with her and just give it to her straight. Hopefully you will be doing her a favor in the long run. This is an egocentric individual. It is all about her. Someone needs to teach a her a lesson in humility. A supervisor if possible. You can get everyone to submit an anonymous complaint about her, and hopefully something will have to be done. If the sit-down talk with her doesn't accomplish anything, get her out of there asap. She's bad for business and she's bad for everyone else's peace-of-mind.

I would stop talking to her, and hopefully people you care about will do the same. If you are not the manager, there's not much you can do, and they are probably hobbled because she can claim her handicap (asthma) as a disability and squall discrimination. If you hear her mis-informing a customer, do your best to correct it. The only other option is for you workers, as a group, to approach management and make a complaint about customer service and messing up the workplace. (Does chain mean she smokes? That's a legitimate gripe, too.) Managers don't care about personality conflicts so don't bother with the gossip and one-upmanship.
Good luck. Maybe she'll find another job soon and move on.

Sounds like she pretends to like people, but really is completely hostile to them and tries to stab them in the back constantly. People like that aren't going to change, so you aren't really safe around them. Either find a job without such a person working there, or do as has been suggested, gather evidence and confront.
It will also help you if others feel the same way about her and are willing to take action. If anyone says you shouldn't squeal on her then just remember they are idiots, and you have a right to work without that kind of person around.

You don't say if you are a peer or her supervisor. If you are a peer, there isn't a lot you can do other than mentioning it to your supervisor. And, I wouldn't do this more than once or it will diminish you.
If you are her supervisor, give this girl some feedback on her performance, what you expect in terms of performance. Also, office gossips only contribute to negativity in the workplace. Make sure she is aware of your positon on this and that you will take steps to stop it, up to and including termination.

It sounds like he is trying to "get your goat". The best thing for you to do when he makes an insulting remark is to keep a blank face and stare at him like he is an idiot. When he gets angry, put on a smile, getting upset at him is only encouraging him to keep acting the way he is; while smiling at him or giving him a blank stare when he asks you a question turns the table and he is the one who looks like an moron. This should make him question his own sense of humor and more than likely piss him off. Give it a try and follow through with it if you decide to take this approach, it certainly works for me.

What can you do? You're describing her personality and only she can do with that. Unless she jeopardizes your job just don't do anything. Listen we have to work around people we don't josh with, right. Don't you remember high school. This story took me back there.
Seriously - What you described is a fake/flake same difference.
