How long should it take dissolvable stitches to drop out after childbirth?

I have just had my vagina restitched after loosing my stitches the first time round and my so called dissolvable stitches are still in after 16 days and getting tighter by the hour! How long before they should dissolve? I have had numerous salt baths but to no avail! HELP!!

Normally the dissolvable stitches are absorbed by the body. It can take about 3 weeks for them to completely dissolve but I would also recommend getting in touch with your dr to see what they say about this.
