Why not?
Smoking is being dealt with.
Yet Alcohol causes far more problems. Both health and mainly social.
My family would feel safer (they had a nasty experience with drunken lads)

I know there is no real solution - just a cry for help.

I am utterly sick and tired of the problems caused by the drunk

Just ban the irresponsible idiots that can not handle their liquor.

I disagree that alcohol causes more problems than smoking.I agree that abuse of alcohol causes problems but it would be a pity if it were banned as some of us enjoy a glass of wine with a meal and don't take it to excess.
I have an alcoholic son-in-law so I do know what I am talking about!

If only some drunks would just stay at home alone, unplug the phone and drink quietly....that is what DH and I do on the weekend while supping our beer.

We don't drive, and we don't cause problems for anybody.

Why not ban fatty foods, too, while you're at it? I've never seen so many butterballs waddling around our area, and a lot of them are kids. We are going to be stuck paying for their health care later on.

What do you mean "smoking is being dealt with"? If you are refering to smoking being banned in public places, it has nothing to do with the user. It's about passive smoking, and the danger it causes by non-smokers inhaling the stuff.

I agree that alcohol is terrible, but you can't get drunk sat next to a drinker.

Dont you dare . I only go to work to gain enough beer tokens for a good night out [ most nights if Im honest ] I Dont believe in violence of any kind. The majority of young lads who cause trouble when drunk should have their picture taken and distributed around their locals and clubs to be refused booze.

Why not ban Everything thats immoral, illegal or it makes you fat. They all endager health. I agree with you I hate walking passed a group of drunken people, I have never felt the same about walking passed a group of people having a smoke or eating a bag of chips.

I believe this is a very good idea, considering the amount of violence alcohol causes, not to mention early deaths, loss of marriages and homes etc.

providing of course responsible people like me are not included in this scheme!

Lack of control in society causes banning. It's awful when something becomes such a problem that we start wanting to ban it. I hate CCTV society but admit that we seem to need it now.

Because unlike the AA and binge drinkers I enjoy a glass of quite wine now and then without harassing other people. To take that away from the majority of people would be wrong. Why should I suffer because other people cant drink responsible.

A couple hundred years ago a government just tried to put a huge tax on gin. Within three years there were massive riots. Imagine what would happen if you tried to ban it altogether.
