Kinetic energy is energy of motion. The kinetic energy of an object is the energy it possesses because of its motion. The kinetic energy* of a point mass m is given by

KE = 1/2mv2

Kinetic energy is an expression of the fact that a moving object can do work on anything it hits; it quantifies the amount of work the object could do as a result of its motion. The total mechanical energy of an object is the sum of its kinetic energy and potential energy.

Potential energy is the amount of energy that could be released if an action were to happen. A roller-coaster at thh top of the big hill is a common analogy used. The potential energy is how much energy the roller coaster will have in action as it goes down the hill

Its really simple...

If its in motion its kinetic energy.

If its got the potential to move and create kinetic energy it is potential energy.

1)Potential
2)Potential
3)Kinetic
4)Potential
